URGENT: Call in your response to Obama's plan for Afghanistan

President Obama just announced his plan to send more than 20,000 additional troops to Afghanistan. But experts, activists, and Afghans who oppose sending more troops are not likely to have their place amongst the pundits spinning today's news. That is why your response is so critical right now. Please call your representative today and urge him or her to oppose the military escalation, and fully fund diplomacy, aid, and effective nonmilitary counterterrorism efforts.

The president's plans for a “civilian surge” and emphasis on aid and development are admirable, but sending more troops will incite the insurgency and will likely lead to a spike in civilian deaths. Click here to read Peace Action West’s analysis of President Obama’s plan.
