Congress will vote on the final economic recovery package this week. Members of Congress are getting lies from Rush Limbaugh, drug industry lobbyists, and other conservatives to strip out the health care provisions in the bill and to vote against the package entirely. We need you to fight back against the lies!

Conservatives are tearing their hair out, claiming that the health care measures (like investment in health information technology and comparative effectiveness research) would ration care and limit choice. And they're being helped by PhRMA and the rest of the drug industry, which has mobilized their army of highly paid Washington lobbyists to oppose these measures.

It's all lies. Here's the truth:

  • Health information technology (health IT) would convert paper medical records into electronic records, meaning less medical errors and less time and money spent by your doctor on paperwork
  • Comparative effectiveness research would help doctors and patients understand which therapies work and which don't, which could save your life

There is nothing in the economic recovery legislation that was passed by the House that rations care or makes decisions that are best left to you and your doctor.
